Links
I have included a few links to sites that I think are worthy of your attention, and have explained my connection to each in a short description. I hope you find them useful! Parents Forum: I am currently the chair of this organisation, which aims to connect the parents of Brighton and Hove with services, support and resources around the city. Check it out - the blogs are very thought-provoking! Parents Forum: I am currently the chair of this organisation, which aims to connect the parents of Brighton and Hove with services, support and resources around the city. Check it out - the blogs are very thought-provoking! TES Primary Forum: The biggest and the best online discussion forum for primary teachers. Highly recommended. Murderous Maths: This is the site of Kjartan Poskitt's brilliant Murderous Maths books (now over 1 million copies sold!), and like him, it is full of fun maths facts. Kjartan is a larger-than-life family man from Yorkshire, who has the rare ability to hold children's attention using just mathematics. I recently spent some time working with him in Ireland and can thoroughly recommend him. Maths is Fun: An amazing and varied site, whose name says it all! The site's owner and creator, Stephen Froggatt, is a truly remarkable human being. He shares my love of all things mathematical, magical and spiritual. It's a no-frills site, easy to navigate, with lots of free resources and great ideas. It will also be of interest to those of you who share my love of Sudoku! Numicon Maths Resources: I`m biased, as I am a registered trainer for Numicon, but their approach to learning makes so much sense. Magic Message: This unique website, when fully operational, will outline some of the services I provide to individuals or groups in greater detail than on this site. It will include details of motivational talks featuring magic, private magic or maths lessons, staff training, school assemblies, and so on. The Sussex Magic Circle: One of the South East`s Premier Magic Clubs. It was my great honour to serve as its President for three years. These days I am a bit busy, but still serve on the committee. Mike Georgiades: I met this exceptional musician when we were both booked to perform at a prestigious event in the Brighton Pavilion. He was playing classical guitar, and I was performing strolling close-up magic. Magic and Guitar turned out to be an unusual but extremely effective combination, and I was blown away by his talent. I can thoroughly recommend Mike to anyone having an important function. Not only that, but he's a really nice guy too! BEAM: I work as a consultant with this professional organisation, who offer expertise, resources and support to the delivery of Mathematics in Primary schools. (Their June Conference is always a very popular event, and next year is running in London, Leeds and Bristol.) Maths is good for you: This easy-to-navigate site is maintained by a maths teacher with a passion for her subject, and is well worth the attention of your students. Probably aimed more at secondary students than primary, but all teachers of mathematics will find something of interest. My favourite bit is the 'excuses' section; pure genius! |
